The Catholic Diocese of Rockford oversees churches, schools, parishioners and other activities across 11 northern Illinois counties. For more than a year, the Diocese developed a strategic plan to shape the future direction of its Catholic schools. Key findings highlighted a need for immediate action to address the most pressing concerns, as well as a realignment of resources to better compete in the educational marketplace well into the future.

Solution

Leaders from the Diocese approached Chartwell Agency for help with a multi-faceted communications strategy as the organization looked to consolidate schools. Chartwell created a process for ongoing support that included creation of a 12-month Integrated Communications Plan (ICP) to engage various audiences throughout the development and implementation of the transition plan; strategic messaging and training for the Joint Schools Committee, which was responsible for overseeing the transition; and public/media relations that included drafting and distributing press releases to media, and creating letters for staff members, parents and families.

Outcome

With Chartwell’s ongoing support, the Diocese has ensured key internal stakeholders are on the same page, proactively sharing the Diocese message; enhanced the brand and perceived value of a Catholic education; and promoted the importance of the transition.
