Chicago Rockford International Airport continues its rapid growth as an important airfreight hub. Cargo volume is up 40 percent in the first half of 2017 over the first half of 2016. This is the result of two things. The airport is now home to ABX Air which handles freight from Amazon through Pinnacle Logistics. Also, UPS moved its Des Moines operation to RFD. It has expanded its presence by increasing its flights by 20 and hiring 250 workers to handle the increased flights.
