Chicago Rockford International Airport continues its rapid growth as an important airfreight hub. Cargo volume is up 40 percent in the first half of 2017 over the first half of 2016. This is the result of two things. The airport is now home to ABX Air which handles freight from Amazon through Pinnacle Logistics. Also, UPS moved its Des Moines operation to RFD. It has expanded its presence by increasing its flights by 20 and hiring 250 workers to handle the increased flights.
Rosen joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates in 1990 and has served as the practice’s president for many years. Rosen was an early champion of converting to electronic health records. He is keeping his medical license but said he won’t miss being on call and waking up to phone calls in the middle of the night. He will be remaining in Rockford with his wife, and he looks forward to traveling more and spending time with his family.
The Rockford Park District announced that it has partnered with Rockford Bank & Trust for a 10-year naming rights partnership for its new indoor facility: the Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion at Aldeen Golf Club driven by Giovanni's. The facility is expected to be open in the summer of 2018.
Carz R’ Us hosted its annual Art Show during the month of June, showcasing artwork created by students from elementary schools in the Harlem School District. More than thirty student art pieces were on display during the month. Students, parents and community members were invited to view the display during regular business hours and vote on their favorite.
(May 17, 2017) theFranaGroup announced that it has awarded four $1,000 scholarships to local individuals. The firm established the scholarships in 2015 in collaboration with the Crusader Community Health Foundation as part of their celebration in reaching a $1 billion milestone in helping clients achieve direct grant funding. Three of the scholarships were funded by theFranaGroup and one scholarship was funded by Crusader Community Health Foundation.

The checks were presented Thursday morning at the church.
(May 2, 2017) SupplyCore, a Rockford, Ill. announced today it has been awarded the Automotive Prime Vendor Worldwide contract with the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime center. The estimated value of the contract is $25 million over a five-year period.
